Wait a minute. I thought you said the stores were unprofitable, which is why they had to shut them down. Now, it turns out the stores are successful. How can they be both successful and unprofitable? It sounds like doubletalk to me.

As you point out, without union protection, the most the worker has to rely upon in the union-created concept of the minimum wage.

You're doing a lot of spinning to obfuscate the point that the utility of the union is done for with legislated worker-protection laws.

Excellent news. Conditions at Walmart prove that there is still a need for unions in the modern world. We just need to make sure the unions don't become all powerful instead a balance between unions and management, like Germany has, is likely the optimum situation.

Better then ever? I mean given that Walmart encourages employees to sign up for welfare it isn't a far leap.

Shutting down a store in Canada is illegal if it can be shown that it was done because of the presence of a labor union.

Yeah, you mean after manufacturing jobs are re-shifted from China to here?

chegitz, if it could be shown that the presence of unions caused corporations to lose significant amounts of money, which led to jobs leaving the country and higher unemployment, would you still be opposed to companies fighting unionization?

If so, why? I just want to see if you can even conceive of the possibility of moving off of your position. Once we determine that we can move forward.

Quebec's Labor Code is clear on this.

As for Canada's, I'm not sure though. Should have said 'Quebec'.

Cite the labour code in Quebec, even.
