oh, your game requires a CD

why didn't you say so at the first place

I presume your Conquests-CD is in your D-drive. In that case, you need to return to dos-mode in DOSBox and write
    mount D D:/

then start your game again. it should now search the CD from drive D.

      D:\ not D:/

      Just to clarify

I also think you might be safer using the CDROM options, like fed1943 said earlier:
      mount D D:\ -t cdrom - usecd0 -ioctl

This is only valid if your CDROM drive is the first CDROM drive in your system (or the only one) and is D:\ (in windows, the D drive). Replace 'D:\' with the right directory for your CDROM drive, and if it is not the first CDROM drive, you may need usecd1 or usecd2 etc.

Its the only one. It won't let me save the game to D, but I'm sure that's not what I wanted anyway.

Actually that is what the installation instructions say. This is what I get when I try it though. (Installing to the D drive)

You want to install to the C: drive, not the D: drive. You can't install to the D: drive.

Also, as I said above, don't use D:/ as this doesn't work. Use D:\

I'm confused Snoopy. I did install to the C drive but the game told me it couldn't find the CD ROM.

I'm surprised you don't know basic DOS commands, I thought you would at least have some knowledge in that area?

Good old DOS, really great for running games. Microsoft should add a feature that restarts the computer, loads DirectX only and starts the game upon launching it from within Windows. But i'm not really sure if that's even possible.

DOS was endless nightmares for me, but some of my favorite games can only be played in DOS.

Btw, back in the days of 3.1 my tech savvy brother installed a program called 'System Commander' on my comp. Gave me the choice to either go to windows or DOS. Don't know if its still available.

                      System Commander

That was how I saw the PC when I first used one.

                              Tie Fighter

XWing vs Tie Fighter, and XWing Alliance, are also both good (nearly identical technology), though Tie Fighter still has probably the best story of any game i've ever played (Mass Effect possibly excepted, I haven't gotten far into that).

                                Yeah...a much easier way:
