rmsharpe, so when I install my game I have to load it into C:\DOSBOX\?
also, thats wierd that they put that warning in the latest version.

also, show us that conquest folder, specifically the address bar.

if you get too much stuff in dir, type dir/w

what you're looking for is a folder (in dir/w, one within square brackets, like [this]) on your C-drive with a name that indicates that it is your conquests-directory.

OK, typed dir, got this. As you can see I then typed INTRPLAY, and got what you see.

you need to type cd intrplay

            then you should get this

            C:\INTRPLAY\

            then type dir again

Well, I put mine under C:\DOSBOX\C\; I put that \C\ subfolder in my root program directory so I don't have game files strewn all alongside the application.

The status window was always there.

Yep, that looks right. IIRC, there are ways to increase the size, but I don't recall off the top of my head.

That's the status window, that's normal. You can run DOSBox without it.

Also, to increase the size you will have to go back to dosbox.conf and change your resolution settings. (Or you could run in fullscreen)

To change your resolution settings, you'll have to change two things. First, change the "output=surface" to one of the other options (I use overlay) and then "windowresolution=original" to a set screen resolution size, like 1024x768. Some games have their own aspect ratio and will adjust DOSBox accordingly.

                        Ah, yes.

Open notepad, open the file referred to under CONFIG: up there ("c:\program files\dosbox-0.72\dosbox.conf") and look for the line:
scaler=normal2x (or whatever, this is the default)

You can change normal2x to normal3x, to make it bigger, or use one of the options listed on the page I linked. advmame3x is perhaps a good one (it smooths things out a bit).

                        edit:
You can also as rmsharpe notes above adjust the resolution, as the above linked page indicates, or even just use fullscreen.

'fullscreen=true' in that file would make it be fullscreen
windowresolution=1024x768 or whatever would make it that size.

press alt and enter keys simultaneously while using the main DOSBox window in order to maximize the window. press alt-enter again to return to normal mode

                                I'm at work.
My DOS games are home, down in the basement.
                                So, no.

I won't be able to get to them for awhile anyway. Genghis and Mao both declared war on me. I whipped Genghis until he whimpered for mercy. Now, it's Mao's turn.
