Bring all your stuff and if you have room throw in a can of something, if not, don't worry about it.Actually toss the can and throw in a few bottles of copycat perfume from Wal-Mart. My first gift to Dolores was a bottle of perfume from the US and she just thought it was just wonderful. She cherished it.
Besides the gifts Aeson, if you have no room or your bags are too heavy don't worry about it, just bring yourself!Long time member @ Apolyton

Fish is cheap there, shrimp, other foods not listed above, fruit...
We buy fresh killed pork meat and BBQ it up over coconut coals, all very reasonable and super tasty. We made shishkabobs too with potato, carrots, bell pepper, and pork or chicken. I like the taste of the chicken there, it tastes more like chicken than the stuff here that's full of hormones.
On special occasions we cook up whole pigs as we showed in the photos.
BBQ beans are cheap there, pineapple juice, pineapples, soda, beer, mangos...
We have a professional meat grinder for grinding beef, but beef is tougher there, less fat. We have a pressure cooker and that helps the beef. Maravic is really good with it Dolores says.
There's roasted peanuts and peanut better. Mango jelly can be had in Tagbilaran. Spagetti is cheap and we're already loaded up with imported spices. Dolores's maranara sauce is excellent. Tomato sauce is cheap there...Dole is big there as is Hunts. You can get ketchup, either tomato or banana. There's a McD's in Tagbilaran and a Pizza Hut, both are cheaper there than here. Transportation is cheaper there than here. You can travel to Tagbilaran, maybe 50 to 60 miles away for a couple bucks on a bus. Just the other side of Tag is Panglao with white sand beaches and world renowned diving. Lots of resorts there, the europeans go there alot.
Lots of stuff Aeson, not the least of which is a wife.Long time member @ Apolyton

I remember well going in search of size 38 shorts and finally finding 2 pair.
All the food you guys eat in the house is included in what we're charging. We don't want to make or lose any money on you guys. Also there is bottled water in the house in 5 gallon jugs that we have delivered 25 gal at a time, incl. All the expences go up when we have guests, cooking gas, and electric, (which has gotten higher over there and I don't know why because its hydro power) are the big two. But everything from coconut coals to clothes washing soap etc etc is incl, as is maid service. I always ask the guys to tip Maravic though. Since you guys helped build her a house she's going to be pretty happy with you anyway.
There's one extra aircon room which is Zkribs if he wants it, but that is a bit extra.
To get from the house to the beach you can walk down to the market and take the small bus to Garcia. You can hang out there, the girls can put together a lunch from the house... Sometimes we load up Sho's truck and make beach runs with lots of people, but sometimes we like to relax at home with a book. Every few weeks we make a run into Tagbilaran to stock up.
That's about it.Long time member @ Apolyton

I just talked to my travel agent. She told me that the sooner I buy my plane ticket, the better. So I'm thinking of coming over either on Wednesday Jan. 7 or Saturady Jan. 10, depending on whether it's cheaper to fly on a weekday or a weekend. [I always remember this backwards, so I always have to ask.]
Crap, I just realized that if you come over in January, it might be really late in Januray. If so, my above-stated plan is stupid.

My very tentative* itinerary:
to the Phils: Wednesday, Jan. 7
to the U.S.: Wednesday, Jan. 31.
Lancer, do you see any problems with this?
Are there any changes you suggest?
_____________
* "Tentative" means I haven't bought tickets yet but I have arranged to get the time off from work.I can always give back vacation days, & I can almost certainly move the time off, if necessary.
