Texas North indeed yes. Around fourty years ago, the Canadian Army had to come rescue hundres of Hell's Angels that the Calgary area citizens were besieging at a campground after some of their get together had been a bit too obnoxious at a local grocery store.

I find it oddly amusing that every thread about Canada degenerates very quickly into Canadian posters bashing each other.

Please, please do not judge Canada on the basis of Calgary.
Calgary is not exactly a tourist hotspot. But at least it is better than... well... maybe Dryden or Sudbury.
I think you'd be pretty surprised? I know there's assloads of tourists in the summer months, though admittedly most come there then head right to Banff...
There's always a steady stream of Asian-themed tourbusses heading to the mountains...

Calgary is fairly nice (if you have low expectations going in).
Banff and Jasper

I like Jasper over Banff, but both are great. But Jasper is quite a ways from Calgary. As Asher says, tourists often pass through Calgary on the way to the Rockies.
But Calgary itself? Most of us who have lived in Alberta like only one of the two main cities. Edmonton over Calgary for me.
The asian tourists are actually a front -- they're really additional labour, like the old days. The Government of Alberta is hollowing out a mountain to use as a bunker and war room for the upcoming Alberta vs Ontario war.
