First thought on reading this: if they're discriminating against people with a family history of antisocial behavior, shouldn't they be keeping Mussolini's granddaughter out of politics?

Second thought on reading this: what do current EU officials have to say about this?

Wait, if I'm reading this correctly the court isn't saying that the guy is right. They're saying that he doesn't hate gypsies because they're gypsies, he hates them because he thinks (as a factual matter) that they are all thieves. Consequently, he's 'merely' guilty of racial prejudice, not racial hatred.

The court of cassation decided this did not show Tosi was a racist, but that he had "a deep aversion [to Roma] that was not determined by the Gypsy nature of the people discriminated against, but by the fact that all the Gypsies were thieves". His dislike of them was "not therefore based on a notion of superiority or racial hatred, but on racial prejudice". The judges scrapped the two-month jail sentences and ordered that the case be reheard.

Can we all just stop this "Roma" nonsense?

In Italy, Roma is the capital of the country. A 2000 y.o. city. I don't like baby throwing gypsies being associated with either Romania or Rome. My family is of Romanian descent, and my mother started to tell she's from German descent, since Romania=Roma=Gypsy=every Romanian is a Gypsy. Amirite?

            NO

Gypsies can go to hell, it's time for them to get into 2008, which means sending their kids to school, rather than forcing them to steal and selling them to old pedophiles.

I don't see what the big deal is about fingerprinting and forced identification. Since they don't mind having their kids living in huts and playing with rats, I don't understand the big deal about having their kids receiving an ID card and being forced to get an education.

For Christ's sake, I can't stand the sight of another pre-pubescent pregnant girl begging for money. Enough is enough.
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

Part of the problem is in Italy you're guilty until proven innocent. That puts the burden on the Roma.

If you guys are really concerned about them you could have them move into special communities, with a symbol on their clothing for easy identification. Even better, a tatoo on their forearms would help them be more productive to society.

That reminds me, we need to do something about all these damn russians moving in to the Chicagoland area. Almost all of them have ties to the Russian mob.

Yeah, thread title threw me because of this.

Reminds me of when I cleaned some gypsy trailers here in Memphis, TN. Some of the photos in there made me very uncomfortable.

I used to know a Slovakian until he recently went back to Slovakia. His top 2 things wrong with his country were:

                                1. The Hungarians
                                2. The Gypsies

His complaints are the Hungarians described a situation similar to what some Americans fear will happen if we let Mexican Immigration get out of control.

His complaints about the gypsies were that the government aid to them gives them no need to try hard in life. They raise to children to know that they don't need to do anything in life. One thing the aid encourages them to do is have more children (more children = more aid.) This means they just keep having more children that know they are raised to know they leech of Government Aid thier hole lives.
