Obviously the dumb**** Texans obviously believe that god will continue to punish them after death...

    God: "Satan old chap..."
Satan: "Yeah, how's it hangin' god dude?"
God: "Look, I this man has been terribly naughty and is already going to be availing himself of your generous hospitality for the rest of eternity...."
    Satan: "You got it, homes!"
God: "Well, you couldn't see yourself punishing him extra hard for the first 4,000 years or so for those nice Texans who still believe in me because they're so ****ing dumb...?"
Satan: "Sure thing God, just for you baby..."

Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

Mobius, you're not worth my time it would take to tell you what you should obviously know.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

don't worry, with today's soft sentences, he'll be out in just 2,030 years with good behaviour.

          What's that then?

Why oh why Mr Texan, is there a logical reason to sentence someone well over 40 times their natural lives!!????

Maybe we should take Herreson's idea?

          2) Keep him in after the death. His prison mates may not like this idea, though.
Oh wait, maybe that's why America already has way more prisoners than any other country in the western world...

I wonder if he could ask to donate his body to medicine to terst out cryogenics.
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

Talk about moronic puritanism. With that kind of sentencing, you'd think he tried to blow up the galaxy or something.

"Sexually assaulting teens".. how much time would he have gotten had he just assualted them non-sexually, you know, kicked each in the head a couple of times? This is the age of sexual paranoia we're experiencing, and I don't like it one bit.

You British masturbators miss the point again. There's nothing to say some sluttly 15 and 16 year olds didn't hook up with this guy and then try to cash out. Apolyton

I'd like to think that if that were the case the investigators would have figured it out and he would have been charged with something much less than what basically amounts to torture.

Only in Texas. But seeing what they got in Germany, I prefer the Texas sentence.

Imran, Lefty or some of our other legal beagals may correct me, but I'm under the impression that the way the laws and parole work in the States, a 99 year sentence is more likely to keep him in jail than a life sentence.
Why? A prisoner is eligible for parole after serving, I think it's 1/3 of the sentence. Since a life can't truly be measured in years, a life sentence is eligible for parole after 7 years, rather than the 33 of a 99 year sentence.

Thousands of years sentence is odd, surely, but it would seem that the intent was to make double damn sure he never got out.

Which is odd, since murderers can often get out after only 25 years. And their victims probably didn't even consent.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the article doesn't say anything about prior arrests or convictions.
A jury can't be made aware of these facts during the trial, but the sentencing can take it into account.

We don't know from the article how abusive he was.

As already stated, this is Texas, so nothing should be shocking. We should assume the jury was nothing but morons.

Sexual assaults are far more traumatic than mere physical assults. And remember, each victim was assaulted multiple times.
