    No, there were no facts (at not in any of the stories I saw) to establish a necessary relationship to the property owner under 9.43 (2). Of course, grand jury testimony is secret, and all it would have taken was his neighbor testifying that he had ask Horn to look after his place.

        9.43 (2) is ridiculously vague. It doesn't have to be an actual request. The person just has to believe that the other person believes that they should watch out for his place.

        I can tell you this with absolute certainty. In every single place I have ever lived, every neighbour had exactly this expectation of their neighbours and vice versa. It's just being neighbourly.

        But the law seems plainly ridiculous to me. Unless someone threatens physical harm, the use of lethal force should be prohibited. But, as you said, the residents of that place seem to have a very authoritarian attitude.

            Good question. Is slander a crime or a felony? I do say, it might be hard to implement. Then again, I'm by no means well versed on any laws/procedures. There are crimes, that are "obviously" crimes, and then there are those, that are a bit vague. Like slandering, as opposed to a stickup.

            Now, remove the police, or my knowledge of them (plainclothes), then, yeah. Sorry, you broke the law, you're toast. Well, you might be lucky, and just be wounded. By this law, you couldn't sue me for anything, which is nice.

              I saw this guy in an interview this morning. I don't think he's the kind of hero people on the right are making him out to be. He was just paranoid, and he had a gun. Perfect example of the need for gun control.

                    Although I don't agree with you very often, this happens to be one of those times.

                    I think the law is bizarre.

                    I also do not own a gun. If someone breaks into my house, I'd prefer to get up close and personal anyway.

                          We do not actually kill that many of them, but there is a major PR plan there, we want to encourage the robbers, burglars, and thieves to leave Texas and move to your jurisdiction.

                              What, and pass up those wonderful specials like two breakfast tacos and a box of 00 buckshot for $9.99? Hell no. Besides, we just happen to like our 12 gages and deer rifles better than we like them low down varmit thugs and burglars. Take me for example. I own a dozen or so firearms, but I do not own even one robber, burglar, or thief.
