US Supreme Court upholds individual right to gun ownership

if that doesn't make a sig somewhere i'm going to be quite annoyed.
Maybe one of the Snugglebunches would be willing to carry the torch?
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891
I spit coffee on my laptop when i read that in the first version...

At what point will the US realize that what was written in 1787 is not necessarily relevant or even right for a completely different society and country in 2008?
What relevance does that have in this thread? This is about the Bill of Rights, not the Constitution.
You are unaware of the relationship between the Bill of Rights and the Constitution? The Bill of Rights are mere amendments to the Constitution, so to claim it has nothing to do with the constitution is just wrong. I can give you further lectures on US government and history if you would like.
Change the date to 1791 and the point still stands.

I have a feeling a couple of years doesn't make a big difference to Asher...
Anything prior to 1983 is just frickin ancient. 1791 vs 1787 is just a joke.

Which is why there is a mechanism for us to change it if the majority of other people agree with you.
"The DPRK is still in a state of war with the U.S. It's called a black out." - Che explaining why orbital nightime pictures of NK show few lights. Seriously.
The problem is it's not likely to change, you guys are all blinded to the "rights" and "liberties" the 1700's constitution affords you that you can't see the detriment they can have on your society. Or if you do see, you don't care. Because liberty is everything.

I'm going to go with "never". And the US will be worse off for it.
I'll take the constitution over mob rule any day.

Liberty is the basis on which we can rise to prosperity. Without liberty, prosperity will dissapear.
Further, I AGREE with the supreme court ruling. I do not own a gun, I never intend to buy a gun but I am GLAD that there are more guns per person in America then any country in the world.
Handguns rifles and a handful of assault rifles are not going to stop heavy military equipment. However any would be tyrant would need popular support in the begining and would be unwilling to bomb civilian populations. The fact America is so heavily armed means we will not be easily pushed over by a true tyrant.
