  • Nietzsche and the meaning of life

A derivative from the other thread.

Do you perceive Nietzsche positively, or is he just a moron?

    And correlated with that:

Do you think life, the universe and everything has an inherent meaning; are there absolute moral truths/values etc?

I'm wondering how many actually agree with his IMO most basic point, and how many are just being fashionable.

    Guess....

Do you think life, the universe and everything has an inherent meaning; are there absolute moral truths/values etc?

NO, I don;t think there is any inherent meaning to the material world, and morality is a human social artifact, and as such most certainly not absolute.

I couldn't disagree with GePap more than I do.
"A human social artifact"? Based on what? Just because humans are all so good naturally? Well, we're not all good, for one thing. I believe in a Plan. I don't believe that totally random event led us all from different starting points, taking different paths in the road, to end up here, for one example.

You're entitled to you opinion. Mine is different, is all I'm saying.

I'm trying to start a trend. Having no opinion is fashionable in McCrean philosophy.

I voted banana, just because the poll doesn't leave much room for nuance. I have mixed feelings about ol' nutsy, and they change almost from day to day.

I was referencing GePap. Not the thread starter.
You're really trying to up your post counts, aren't you?

Do some research on PCR. Put all your silly comments in multiple posts for nothing.

Like I get a trophy if I win? Nope, I was answering your question. I ASSumed you might be interested, as I seem to be the newest para-nietzschean. I'll probably be gone in two month; I never have much tolerance for the public. I'll have to remember to leave a forwarding address for the trophy. You do some research, and you'll see why I'm here, I believe it's well enough and recently documented. I would not have posted this time, had you not clearly asked.

I didn't notice your point about "fashionable" until later review. Reading too quickly was my fault. I have seen multiple cases of double posts, and have been too slow to edit the first on several occasions; other replies do sometimes come very quickly here.

I'll assume that demand was an error. I came here to learn, eh, something, and sense pressure to certainly avoid you, without further explanation or delay. Ill met!

You weren't answering my question, jackass.
I was making a statement to GePap, not to you. I repeated that it was a statement to GePap, and you're so addled that I have to point out AGAIN, that I had no question and that nothing was directed to you.

Weird. In real life I've only ever come across three people who think life has no inherent meaning and are not just victims of their genetically determined desires. (And one of those three people is a libertarian *******.)

Yet here there are four people who say life has no inherent meaning. Am I just bad at finding likeminded people, or does Civ attract moral perspectivists?

I think the topic attracts like minded individuals. (With some exceptions).

Might I suggest a T-shirt to attract others?
