I read it all. I don't think the internet is making me stupid. I still love reading books in one or two sittings.

I thought it was a very good article, making very good points. Knowledge does not equal wisdom, and having all the information in the world at your fingertips does nothing to help you do something with mere data.
Of course information can be manipulated, but the internet empowers intelligent people instead of the other way around. One hundred years ago, only the rich and wealthy aristocrats and / or entrepreneurs had access to information. As people had more and more access to information (though public libraries, magazines, papers, television, and now especially teh internets) they also had more means to oppose the vested powers that be.

But on the contrary, it provides people with all the more information / data to back up their arguments. Imagine a discussion without easy and quick access to the nigh infinite information. It would require a lot of research and time, or the arguments would more often be based on dubious ideology or the imagination of the speaker. The other party has no way to quickly verify an argument.Click here if you're having trouble sleeping.

This may be the ideal, but it doesn't often happen. Just look at Poly. While we do have access to the internet, most of our arguments are still just our own ideological spittle.

I think it does two things:
Distracts you from what you should be doing.
Decreases your memory, as you can look stuff up instead of having it memorized.
Both could cause an apparent decrese in intelligence.
