  • New testament vs old testament

new testament is a more "mellow" old testament.
    which one is true?
if there are conflicts between, which is true?

And I think that most christian churches (catholic, protestant even orthodox) are based on new.

You can get as many different answers as you want. Personally, I see no conflics. NT fullfills the promises of OT, and introduce a new pact between God and man, a pact where God as the human Jesus Christ fullfill God's own requirements of a perfect life, which we can't do ourself because of our flawed nature. That means all the work is done and we can get saved by grace through belief in Jesus.
Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.-Isaiah 41:10
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made - Psalms 139.14a

The Old Testament is the pact between God and men where men can 'earn' eternal life by living a good life.
The Old Testament shows that man apparantly isn't able to do so.

Therefor the new testament has been given, where man can receive eternal life if he admits his broken being and trusts Jesus to heal him and lead him.

The Old Testament also offers a rich context for the new testament. We can get a better understanding of the new testament through the old testament.

Well, there are differences. It's impossible to call it a 'conflict' though. A conflict would be something between two books of the same testament.

The old testament doesn't talk much about life after death at all. It mostly talks about God blessing you or not blessing you.

Yes, Christian theology is supposed to be more from the New, but that doesn't stop them from using the Old (picking and choosing which verses they like) to find suitable bogaymen for the times.

Which verses from the old testament do Christians not like?

New Testament, with Zombie Jesus, is way cooler than the Old Testament, which has God acting like a fickle child most of the time.

I think we should have contemporary testament. And I can write it as well. So.... start kneeling before I unleash my wrath on you puny ones!

No but seriously, what if God gave us new revision, or rather a third one, completing the trilogy, where the first words would be, "Forget everything I gave you earlier. I was drunk and it was a joke. NOW start reading.... ". And what would that text be? I bet it would be totally insane. God on rambling mode = awesomeness God invented eccentrics and the weird. How can I not like an entity, that created the weird? It must be genius.

                          How about Leviticus 19:19?

Apparently God isn't too fond of cotton/wool blends.

Also, God invented God. Is that previous God the father of the last one? No it is not, thus it is even more powerful and genius like. That means that God invented itself before inventing inventing. How is that possible? Because it's totally awesome. That's how. It came to be as omnipotent, before there was omnipotent, so it had to always be, twisting the meaning of time and space for God. That's pretty cool, I struggle to get to my doctor's appointment on time, man I must be a loser.

I wonder if we are a screensaver, or more like a hobby. Then again, God must have powerful skills to create free will, and not know the outcome. How crazy is that?

In fact, isn't that a paradox in itself? To be able to create something, where you don't know the outcome, yet you know everything? This is why I know I like God, because he's such a weirdo, I will find God fascinating for sures. I hope I have an eternal afterlife, where I can just fill my head with that level of weirdness.

If we are a screensaver I hope we're not something old and lame like flying toasters.
