    1) He's setting an image up for himself with, inter alia, the electorate to further his career.
    2) He almost certainly won't lose his seat.
    3) It puts Gordo and Cameron into a bind when he wins if played with the proper finesse.

Whether he believes in the cause or not is an aside.

I was up before 9am this morning. I can't seem to lay in anymore.

I woke up at 7am - always happens after drinking the night before.

I lay in for a while though.

            Exactly.

It's a huge attention-seeking showboat. The one funny prospect is that, assuming he wins and the Tories form the next government, they'll find it rather difficult to lapse back into their old pro-police habits. And Davis, being an inveterate right-winger, will be in a more difficult position than most.

So when New Labour moves so far to the right in its quest for increased state powers that it actually leaves some Tories to its left, and when that New Labour gets into bed with extreme right-wing nutjobs like McKenzie, your only response is to point at Tory policies in Ireland decades ago.

              It's New-Labour fanboyism gone mad.

Accusations of New-Labour fanboyism are usually better-suited to people who aren't life-long Liberal voters.

                  To whom is this addressed?

If it is addressed to me I'm amazed that you presume to know my lifetime voting record. I'm less amazed that you've got it wrong though.

No. I'm the life-long Liberal voter in question.

Oh. Well, I have to say I'm surprised, but that on that particular point I stand corrected.

Do you support Clegg's stance on this, Laz?

Which one? On the detention, or on contesting Haltemprice?
