I don't like the plastic look so much as the aluminum. I'm not paying $2000 for a secondary computer (I'd keep my desktop as primary).

Why would you buy an Apple notebook anyway? As you've said many times, you hate them and they suck and you wouldn't be caught dead with one.

Teh multitouch is cool, but teh slower 3G (EVDO rev A is >twice as fast) and lack of full keyboard kill it for me. And teh price is misleading, because of teh overpriced plan.

Baloney. Even when you bought an iPod, you said that you would rather die [or words to that effect] than use a Macintosh.

The MacBooks are alright, but not for any gaming. The best machine Apple sells now is the Alumnium iMac.

I would suggest that the best machine Apple sells now is the MacBook Pro, compared to other machines available in their respective categories. The MBP is by far the best laptop available in the $2k price range (last I checked laptops anyway), while the various other Macs aren't price competitive at their respective levels.

Apple has royally ****ed over its early adopters. It's beautiful. I think Agathon was one of them.

They bought old, painfully slow technology for astronomical prices. It's exactly the kind of idiots who bought G4s and G5s on PCs...they deserve it.

Apparently the new iPhone actually has acceptable call quality. My colleague's iPhone sounded like ****. Further, reception isn't terrible now because they figured out having a METAL back was poor for reception. Jesus christ, somebody smack their engineers with a cluestick for me.

Amazingly, the 3G iPhone is still half the speed of my 2-year old RAZR V3c.

You won't find me making excuses for Apple since I hate Apple and have always bought one of their competitors when given a chance. Steve Jobs will be on his knees sucking my balls long before I ever agree to a locked in service plan just to get a phone.

The iPhone actually lost marketsharE (considerable marketshare) to RIM last quarter. This price drop is meant to rejuvenate sales, which it assuredly will, but it's a pretty poor solution to do so long-term. You can only cut the price so many times. Though now it is a reasonable price.

Not quite. The towers are quite reasonable compared to other major manufacturers. Last time we argued about it on here, they were cheaper than equivalent (the high power) offerings from Dell and HP. Looking at Dell's site, the Mac Pro is quite a bit cheaper than what Dell wants for its top of the line workstation (the ones with the equivalent 980W power supply - all the Mac Pros have that AFAIK - and before anyone starts trying to object, the cheaper range of Dell Workstations have a smaller power supply).

I had a look and Dell's best Xeon based workstation configured to the same spec (same processors, hard drive, etc.) as the standard Mac Pro, and with Dell's free 17 inch monitor comes to about $4500. The Mac Pro sans monitor is $2800. The top of the line Mac Pro sans monitor is $4400 and the equivalent Dell is $6000. I reckon I could buy a nice 20 inch monitor (even one of Apple's, which aren't cheap) for the difference in price and have a lot left over. And that doesn't include software.

So I guess it is still the same between Apple and Dell.

I'd say Jobs would be happy not to. Apple is supposed to be "hip". We don't want people like you diluting their brand image.
