Many Apolyton posters like to take a cheap shot at Texas because they don't do things according to some "civilized" standard.
I find it funny that these supposed anti-racist/anti-ethnic enlightened posters are the first to group "Texas" or "Texans" as a singular group. I guess only the enlightened are allowed to be prejudiced.
Another irony here is that, most of those that bemoan the fact that the state might make a mistake in the matter of an execution are the first that would promote the point of view that we need more state regulation.
But back to the debate. In a republic, we elect people to represent us. Quite often innocent people die due to the decisions of the state. I hate it, but that happens. (If anybody here could honestly say that while they were in charge of a nation or state not 1 innocent person would die, I think they are deluded) Quite often the death of innocent people is calculated as part of a greater good - to save more lives. Anyone who fights in a war and dies is an innocent death that was calculated. THESE ARE ALL TRAGEDIES, but it is part of the deal of allowing a government to have life and death power over the people. The guilty sentence and execution of an innocent person is tragic, but must be weighed against the cost of not following the sentencing law.
This brings up the next issue which I think is the real issue here. The DEATH PENALTY. I personally am not a fan of it, but strong arguements can be made for it. For example, is it better for society to take the most heinous of murderers, child rapists etc. and spend as much on them per year as it would cost to take an underprivlidged child and send him to Harvard or 3 kids to Michigan State or 8 kids to Schoolcraft Community College. Some might say that 8 kids going to college is more important than a serial killer's life. In fact. some might say, investing in 8 kids future (instead of the serial killer) might keep 8 kids off the street, make them productive citizens and perhaps even prevent a future murder or some other crime.
This debate has gone on for ages. Ultimately, that's why we have elections.
THE REAL POINT IS:
Sloww was proud that where he lives they are making a significant effort to make sure that innocent people are not found guilty.
***THAT SHOULD BE GOOD NEWS HERE AND EVERYWHERE.***
Instead, so many of you hop into your politically correct prejudice of dissing Texas, and the South in general, because it somehow makes you feel as if you are more compassionate and wise. True wisdom looks at the situation. True wisdom applauds improvement

I like Sloww but I'm not going to kiss his ass and tell him everything about his fine state is perfect. It isn't. If that hurts his feelings, so be it.
1st, thanks Asher. I came here to read a pm I got email notice about, and see this. I appreciate it.
2nd, Wezil, you're an arrogant bastard. The invitation to kiss my ass is extended to you and will remain offered.
You're an attorney. If anyone here should appreciate the efforts I was telling about, it should have been you.
After this remark, you can go fuk yourself.
3rd, thanks to the people that had decent things to say.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

He also hates Texans and Australians, he does diversify." ~ Braindead
Gahh, the real horror here is Troll's impersonation of Asher!!
I'm consitently stupid- Japher I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned
You can get your ass kicked just for wearing that shlt. But maybe you're into the sadistic stuff...How about a leather mask with zipper then? And since its Asher week for some reason, we all call you Fido or Rex.
Hmmm, I think I better stop before you start dialating.
Spec.
-Never argue with an idiot; He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

I could, but not by you
Seriously, Spec eluded to the basic premise of why Poly has issues to deal with.
If I were actual gay, and had been my whole life, and was very flamboyant about such, loved wearing sweet feminine attire that clings close to my figure, smell hot and seductive, wore a thong that rode high between the cheeks of my AHZZ, and had glued on breasts, a shoulder length brunette curly wig, 6" pumps, short skirt..
~whew~
Ok, but then someone called me a ***, that would be insensitive.
It would be wrong.
It should also be wrong to critique in an ugly way such as happened to Slowwhand.
Cant we debate without attacking?
I dont think yuour serious Spec as I was not with my comment, but for real, depending on what is your deal-ee-oo will dictate what you find worth fighting for.
