Sure. That doesn't stop it from taking whatever tack it likes on any issue. It's like PBS or the BBC. You might complain about the use of your tax dollars, but it would be inaccurate to describe the website as necessarily representative of the views of the Australian government because it is funded by it. There have been no instances of government censorship of that organisation to my knowledge. It all depends on their editorial line.The Australian Broadcasting Corporation is entirely funded by the taxpayer, so it's basically a government entity.
Summary of my opinion: Don't bag Australia, it's not that retarded. Some idiot hippie journalist works put this up.
