All he did was show that Air Canada caused an accident. You should be in tears.

What does this have to do with Air Canada?

Air Canada is an accident but I don't know what that has to do with reckless Air France pilots.

I get France and Canada confused. It is a big mistake geographically but not in other ways, like the spelling or the history. Just a typo.

Discovery Channel had a Mayday episode I saw based on the flight.

The First Officer and the Captain were arguing over whether they should land. The Captain said yes, FO said no. Air France's guidelines at the time said only the Captain can decide. Now, if either the FO or Captain says to abort, they abort with no questions asked. Then the Captain had the FO land the plane.

Further, because they couldn't see out the front window they were looking out the side, which was distracting. They didn't turn on thrust reversers until 12 seconds after touchtown, right before it went off the runway.

BTW, Air France thinks the runway is so dangerous they've since increased the frequency of their flights into Toronto using this runway, including using 747s now as well.

I liked the episode they did on the Gimli glider. That was Air canada I think. It is too bad the discovery channel mostly shows Law and order repeats now.

I flew on the Gimli glider a couple years ago on a Toronto-Calgary flight. The pilot even said "Welcome aboard the Gimli glider". I had to google it when I got home, and saw the episode recently as well.

The plane was finally retired January this year.
