It occurs to me that a woman candidate who ran a really, really close race and then reacts in a responsible, adult manner to her narrow defeat is a better boost for feminism than one who sticks her fingers in her ears and does the "lalalalalalala I can't hear you" thing. Being strong enough to lose with dignity

There are many other qualified female politicians out there, and I think this race demonstrates that, should one or more of them care to run in the future, they've got a legit shot. They just have to run a better campaign (or be up against a lesser opponent, as the case may be). They can (and likely will, when the time comes) give some thanks to Hillary for her run this year, for demonstrating that it can be done.

It was funny reading the letters in the CHI TRIBUNE this morning. There were a few women that wrote that if he doesn't choose Hillary for the VP spot they're going to vote for McCain. That's just silly. But of course we are discussing women here. *runs for cover*
