I wouldn't rely on Wikipedia to make that decision. Check this link out:

Information about Salvia Divinorum including basics, effects, dosage, history, legal status, photos, research, media coverage, and links to other resources.

Personally I wouldn't try it, especially the first time, in an uncontrolled place like camping outdoors. It could be dangerous. The first time I did it was on a balcony unsupervised (against all of the rules I set out for myself beforehand). I could have easily ended up going over, since I had no idea that I even existed, never mind where I was. At a campsite you could very easily end up in the fire, drowning, falling off a cliff, etc.

I find that stimuli are to be avoided. A quiet room with diffuse lighting and no music or people talking gives the best results. Make sure you have a sober sitter. I know that people say that's a general rule with most drugs, but doing acid with someone sober is pretty lame. Having a sober sitter, preferably one who has done Salvia before, is ESSENTIAL.

If you've ever done DMT that's the level of reality altering you're dealing with with Salvia. Closer to the actual experience, think K-hole without the comfortable safety net that reduces the possibility of sheer mindless panic.

      Still interested?

Well now you mention it, salvia doesn't sound like it would be ideal in that situation. It does remain quite intriguing. And don't worry about me trying anything out in uncontrolled circumstances. I'm not that adventurous a guy anyway.

Belgium outlawed its use in may 2006 unfortunately, but that shouldn't be much of a problem, heh.

it looks to me like he taped up the ignition hole and promptly dropped his keys anyway. If some fool wants to take their first hit of salvia while in a moving car, based on these videos where the user is clearly incapacitated, then they are going to get whats coming to them.

I understand the sentiment, but with your first hit of Salvia you don't know what's coming to you. Furthermore, you most likely can't conceive of what's coming to you because you're most likely using the context of previous drug experiences, which clearly do not apply with Salvia.

I simply can't understand why that would end up as a controlled substance.

I presume the argument is not that it's not dangerous (clearly), but that it's not a substance likely to become abused significantly (as lots of things are dangerous but not controlled substances). I of course would agree it should be considered a controlled substance, but i'm a bit extreme in that direction generally... I'd prefer alcohol and tobacco on that list

Why should it? Sure, in certain situations it could cause the user to bring harm to themselves, but otherwise it doesn't meet any criteria for scheduling.

It's my understanding that salvia isn't that potent.

Some people are very resistant to the effects of the active ingredient, Salvinorum A. Potency refers to how much of a drug will cause an effect. Salvinorum A is the most potent naturally occurring hallucinogen; a dosage of 500 micrograms is sufficient.

If by potency you mean intensity, trust me, you heard wrong.
