I was totally stumped. I had lots of friends, but a best friend? Nope. I just didn't rank them in that way, and I still don't.

I'm told by wise women in my life that this is a stereotypically male thing. Women have best friends, but men frequently don't. So what do you assorted men, women and thingies feel?

You're right, no best friends. Perhaps temporarily, but that's simply because I often see them for a certain period of time and then it's easier to do more activities with those people.

Since the early 1990s, fish habitat, particularly for sturgeon, was being adversely affected by flow management practices between the dams on the Saskatchewan River. Unnatural flow patterns were disrupting water levels and contributing to the silting over of essential fish spawning grounds. John was invited to study this issue as part of an Inter-provincial Sturgeon Steering Committee and contributed to the re-establishment of this vital fish habitat.

As president of Saskatchewan Cooperative Fisheries Limited, John works to ensure a viable future for commercial freshwater fisheries. With the Saskatchewan River Sturgeon Management Board, John is developing an effective 10-year management plan that can protect habitat and promote the recovery of fish populations.
