My 5 year old LOVED it.

9 year old that it was good.

I thought it was good for a comic book movie.

It was fun, but as soon as we left we were like, "Hey . . . "

Plus the whole, rooting for American imperialism thing.

Let's see... a comic book movie...

          The bad guys are stupid
Our hero goes through a change
There are some good actions scenes
There are some bad action scenes
The script could have been written by a trained monkee

          So what's new

I thought it was a fun romp. The casting was good, and it was enjoyable. I wasn't expecting an Academy Award Winning film. It was pretty much what I expected, and well worth the money.

The colonialism aspect was also there, but to be honest, I wouldn't expect most American movies to not have some element of it.

As far as the bad guys acting like retards, how the hell can you stay even remotely true to the iron man creation story (bad guy kidnaps industrialist, industrialist promises to make him a weapon, industrialist builds himself a powered suit instead) without the bad guys acting like retards? Hard to take points off from a comic book movie when there's that much bad guys acting stupid in the source material.

Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.
The simple suggestion of a true change scandalizes and terrifies modern man. -Nicolás Gómez Dávila

                                Downey was quite funny.

The action scene with the two jets.

I agree about the climatic end battle scene. Not that fabulous.
I came to the conclusion that Iron Man's real nemises was the screenwriter.

I liked the acting, directing, special effects.
                                The plot sucked scissors.

BTW: Since when did Tony Stark become a whiney peacenik? And in the comix, didn't he live on the East Coast [it's been decades since I read the comix. The brain's a little fuzzy on this.]
