I honestly don't know why people would buy a Mac and while +1.1% of market is big for Apple it's not really that big of a slice. I can only imagine that lots of established users are upgrading and a few people who bought Ipods or Iphones are now switching over to Mac. Still that leaves 94% of the market people other then Apple (which basically means IBM PCs).

It's gotten to the point where I don't need to respond to your posts. No one takes anything you say seriously here anyway.

I just read it and smiled. I like it when you pretend to know something about the field, it's kind of cute.

I mean, I'm sure the switch to Intel has massive technical benefits for Apple, certainly in the long run, and I can see why tech-savvy people welcome it, but I can't really see how that switch has anything to do with a 50% increase in sales right now.

(On the other hand, I'm not sure why the hell I even jumped on this in the first place.)
As a side note, some people here will probably remember me entering into technical debates with Agathon regarding the G4/G5 vs x86. It's actually amazing how quickly he changed his tune when Steve Jobs told him x86 was the way to go.

            2. Apple stopped trying to push their Appleworks package as a substitute for Office. Now they offer Office for Mac and strongly encourage it with "student" pricing.

As a result, MS now actively supports their "for Mac" version, which was never the case previously.
You leave out the fact that MS removed VBA for Office 08. That makes it effectively useless for most business users.

            Strategery.

Yes, Agathon is well aware of that.

For instance, MS goes down 6% and it's a "pounding", Apple goes down 40% and it's blamed entirely on the downturn in the economy. He also neglects to mention that Microsoft just posted record 3rd quarter revenue. They only made $4.4B in profit in the last 3 months (this is 4x Apple's), it's awesome how bad they're doing!!

The only thing Agathon knows is spin, -Jrabbit...

I must say, I'm really starting to enjoy our time together in these threads, Asher. You've dialed down some of your rhetoric, I get to pick up a few factoids... it's all good.

Medusa and the hooker ninjas in the Shogunite period who lured generals to the tops of buildings and threw them over were charming too. Only you will not kill me or turn me to stone, I see through you like white on rice.
