And if nothing else, every single adult there is guilty of harboring an illegal act, if not doing the same.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

well, it does sound like she's alleging a conspiracy among the adults so it aint like the cops can leave them in custody.

Where do the freaky fat cultist guys with beards find all the gullible chicks in their teens and twenties? Here's a piece on a cult group in the late 60's with some nasty looking old guy with a beard who convinced 13 women to become his "wives".

You gotta love those Jailbait motivationals.

To the OP, it is disturbing that some people would even contemplate this, but thankfully they are the very small minority.

The 16yo in question was the one who called authorities and claimed she was being abused.
Last I heard they haven't found that 16 year old. I am starting to think it was probably an outside critic posing to make trouble for the compound.

No sympathy for the compound leaders, but like Berz said there is a way to do this correctly.

Or maybe she's dead like a 15yo girl who called for help from a similar situation in Utah? Or maybe she's with her husband who seems not to have been there either? Who knows? That's what they're there to find out.

No sympathy for the compound leaders, but like Berz said there is a way to do this correctly.
The correct way is to investigate the call, and get a warrant if there's reason to believe it.

As for what happened while the warrant was served, what specifically made them determine that the women and children they found "...had been harmed or were in imminent danger of harm", I don't know. But given the past of that particular sect, it's not difficult to believe they found something to support that.

These women/children are basically slaves. They are not allowed to leave. Women are treated like chattel, and are forced into these plural marriages, often at a very young age.

Also, the guy they're looking for happens to be a real gem, would obviously never hurt anyone:

Barlow was sentenced to jail last year after pleading no contest to conspiracy to commit sexual conduct with a minor. He was ordered to register as a sex offender for three years while he is on probation.

We should just be glad this didn't go the way of Waco (and I'm not trying to slam Texas by that, Sloww).

CH, who's the chick in your avatar?

? That response doesn't follow, Kid. I meant, "we should be glad they managed to break up the cult without setting the compound on fire and burning all the women and children alive."

Waco was destined for a bad end. Koresh saw to it.
