Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.

April's Fools or not, Blake, I have to say your transformation from the ultimate SMAC nerd into a devoted Buddhist is quite... impressive and surprising!

In case this is serious, good luck

Not true SMAC is superior to Buddhism.

Both involve transcendence of self as an ultimate goal. Both are just as impractical when applied to real life. How can you eliminate desire when that necessarily involves desiring to not desire? No wonder you need several lifetimes to figure it out!

Contradiction is not a problem in eastern religion and philosophy.

I actually clicked on Ajahn Brahm's speech "desire" Blake linked to in some thread. This contradiction is assesed by Ajahn in the first sentence.

The speech is still communist propaganda and doesn't makes sense, of course.

I didn't say it made him better. I think accepting contradiction in philosophy and religion is just as unacceptable as not accepting it.

                                I wouldn't quite agree.
