    I think the earlier books are quite good, a bit more whimsical than the later ones that sometimes get a bit too dark and broody. "Night Watch" and "Thud" come to mind...

      Night Watch is one of my favorites.

      Thud -- not so much.

      I just finished Making Money, which is a worthy sequel to Going Postal.

        Actually I thought Thud (for all its grimness) was Pratchetts best since "The Truth". And I forgot I haven't read "Making money", but whatshisname Lipswig is not one of my favourite characters. We haven't had a book about the witches in ages (if you don't count the Tiffany Aching books)...

          No book about witches....unless you count the Triffany Aching triology: Wee Free Men, A Hat Full of Sky and Wintersmith.

            I would suggest that not counting the Aching books is like not counting Equal Rites as a witches book... rather pointless
