Hogfather was different, in a probably good way, sort of. It had the usual British TV stuff, similar to how Neverwhere did - so it was quite different than the book, though maintaining a similarity plot-wise to it certainly, and maintaining some of the humour, but changing others to be somewhat more visual/physical.<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.
