  • Bible Belt: leads in divorces, murders, teen pregnancy, and STD infection rates.

It's kind of funny that the same Evangelical Christians who constantly trumpet "family values" and bash gays for lacking said "family values" also have the highest divorce rate of any group in the country. Much higher then godless aethists or any other religious group. The Bible Belt also has the highest teenage pregnancy rate and a much higher rate of STD infection then the national average. And the murder rates? Well, let's just say those gun toting rednecks rack up impressive kill numbers.

Study on divorce rates by various religious groups (including aethists) in the US: http://www.religioustolerance.org/chr_dira.htm the finding is that Evangelical Christians have the highest divorce rate of any group in the entire US. So much for family values.

Study which shows the Bible Belt has the highest divorce rate: http://www.ncpa.org/sub/dpd/index.ph...ticle_ID=10961

Facts about teen pregnancy (including which states have highest teen pregnancy rates): http://www.guttmacher.org/pubs/2006/09/12/USTPstats.pdf Those kids in the bible belt sure do like to get knocked up young.

Now I can understand why the regions which refuse to teach real sex education have the highest teen pregnancy rates and the highest STD rates but why do Evangelicals have the highest divorce rates when they're always preaching about the sanctity of marriage? Also I believe the Bible tells us one of the ten commandments is "Thou shalt not kill" but clearly the Bible Belt leads the way in murders. There is more then a bit of hypocracy here; hypocracy mixed with political policy failure.

It has to do with slavery. Black americans in this region having been so recently unshackled tend to roam without connections or education or access to high paying jobs or even fast cars, so a lot of them turn to illicit sexual encounters, typically in parking lots banks and alleyways, and when the money gets low you will see robbery, extortion and exotic dancing maneuvers in public (these are also the ones who wash your car until you pay them or shoot them). I don't want to accuse you of being a racist Oerdin but you may be one

Well, Slavery is something that is definitely allowed according to the bible, you cannot blame them for acting according to their beliefs

Good news is if you're looking to bang a teen then teen girls in Texas put out like no body else. The bad news is she probably has an STD and her dad will shoot you.

              "Aethists"

At least the fundies can spell their own belief system. Clearly learning about evolution has muddled your brain.

Good job Oerdin, use statistics to show how much better California is, WRT pregnancy, yet conveniently omit the fact that California didn't even send in info on teen pregnancy.

Are you disputing his facts or just nitpicking b/c one state is omitted?

No, several states did not send in data, no state was omitted.

Guess what else, Liberal California had a higher murder rate, than gun totin' Texas in 10 of the 11 years on his graph.

Bible thumping Utah's worst murder rate wasn't as high as California's lowest.

So the 7 people in Utah managed not to shoot each other?

                        No, the 2.7 million people.

Many of whom, leave California because of the crime.

I'd find a Texas vs California comparison much more useful than comparing to Utah.

I gave you one, right above the Utah line:

Yes, so why did you feel the need to bring Utah into it?
