    Ah... hurry up and wait.

Should be the motto of the Army. Get used to it.

Basic is a cake walk. Just do what your told and don't stick out. Near the end of mine, my DI still had to look at my name tag to figure out who I was.

It was just so sleezy and since they were drunk and shouting you could hear them negotiating price and then you could hear each of the three guys taking their turn. Ick! Who would want to be the third guy?
I had a nice, standard motel. I had a room mate show up, turned out to be a friend of mine from high school, who was already 21. So, we went to the 7-11 and got some beer to pass the time. ( I was 20)

      ACK!

Hey I'm back! I graduated from basic about six weeks ago, and I finally have internet access here at AIT, so I thought I'd check back in.

Never been to Gordon. I was at Fort Benning for Jump School and to mobilize to go to Kosovo.
Ah, you at Fort Gorden just in time for the Georgia heat! Sorry man

It's treating me pretty good. Though I feel like a fool for not getting OCS when I signed up. I'm trying to get airborne in my contract right now, and hopefully OCS at some point down the line. I loved Benning. Ft Gordon is ok, it has its good and bad points.

I'm 30, I'll be 31 in June. I wanted more college, but didn't really want to take out more loans for it. They offered me a set of really great incentives, and Im like lets do this, especially since I've always toyed with the idea for a long time. I've been going to National Guard drill (I'm doing the 36 month active first program) since January, and I've enjoyed it. That's motivated me. So I'm going to go and do my best and see what happens. Honestly it's made me feel more patriotic.

Good luck, and thank you for your service.

I'll be shipping out for OCS for the Marine Corps in October assuming I am selected by the officer selection board (my pull-ups for the physical fitness test is the only thing holding me back but it should be good by then). Nice to see another person going into the service here.

oh and korn, you have to be under 34 at the time of commissioning to go to OCS for the Army. Down the line will be coming real quickly.
