So yeah, I ship to Fort Benning on April 2nd for BCT, and then to Fort Gordan 9 weeks or so later for AIT. I'm going to be a 25B. Right now I've enlisted in the national guard's active first program which means I serve three years active duty, then I do the remaining five years in the guard. However, if I really love the military I think I'm going to try to get into OCS and then do 20 years or so active duty. We'll see though. I've heard that Fort Benning will be tough but efficient, and Fort Gordan is disorganized and just generally poorly administered. I'm excited but scared and hating the fact that although I can pass a PT test I feel out of shape. I'll miss you guys!!!

One of my ROTC friends from high school ended up in military intelligence. Super secret stuff, a windowless bunker job. I have no idea if it was stateside or in the field, and she'd probably have to kill me if she told me.

The night before I left for boot camp the recruiters put us all up in a cheap ass dive motel (just in case someone got cold feet and decided not to go) and I'll never forget laying there in bed being forced to listen, through the paper thin walls, while the three guys in the next room over did a hooker. It was just so sleezy and since they were drunk and shouting you could hear them negotiating price and then you could hear each of the three guys taking their turn. Ick!
