Gepap - I think I agree with that except the "first viable female candidate" bit. She would get her enabling ass handed to her in a presidential vote. I guess making it on the ballot makes her a candidate, I just don't know where the viable comes from."I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure." - Clarence Darrow

Huh? That's my point. Ferraro's implication that Obama's an affirmative action candidacy only makes sense if you ignore that the benefit he gets from being black only serves to counter the benefits Clinton gets from her gender and spouse. All those contests you named were younger white guy vs. older white guy.
Here we have a race between the first viable female candidate who also happened to be First Lady and married to one of the most popular politicians of the day VS. the first viable black candidate."Beware of the man who works hard to learn something, learns it, and finds himself no wiser than before. He is full of murderous resentment of people who are ignorant without having come by their ignorance the hard way. "

No she would not. Hillary has always had high negatives, but the egenral election will come down to turnout in the end, plus while running in NY Hillary has shown she can neutralize some of the Hillary hatred, and in the end, her record is far more center of the road than Obama's. While she is an easy target, all the avenues of attack are also already known to her and her supporters.Originally posted by Wezil

Yes, that is what Hillary supporters have been saying.

Except that the same point applies to Clinton, something you seem to be hopelessly unwilling to see even thought it is a clear as day. Hillary is doing as well as she is doing because of her fame and being the first credible female candidate. Treating her like she were LBJ or Mondale is idiotic.Originally posted by Ramo

After all, you think being Hillary Clinton does no have pluses (huge female vote) and negatives?
There is a reason Hillary was seen every day until Iowa as the presumptive nominee, and those reasons would not have been seriously challegened by anything other than another historic candidacy. A pretty young white boy ain't news.
Ferraro's comment is true. It simply also applies to Hillary if you put man where she said black. If you don't like reality, change it! me

Ferraro's comment was a derisive swipe at Obama's candidacy. There was no context of the benefits that Clinton gets from her family and gender. I have no idea why you pretend otherwise."Beware of the man who works hard to learn something, learns it, and finds himself no wiser than before. The following is spoken like a true Hillary flunkie who bought into the myth:
Obama and Clinton tied New Hampshire. But like her husband who finished 3rd and she who tied - they both falsely claimed a victory and the media bought into it.Originally posted by GePap
Except that LBJ, Mondale, and Humphrey were not Hillary Clinton.
All those contests you named were younger white guy vs. older white guy.
Here we have a race between the first viable female candidate who also happened to be First Lady and married to one of the most popular politicians of the day VS. the first viable black candidate.
So lets back up and say WBama wins Iowa and then Hillary comes back and wins NH.
Once again Hillary lost Nevada. Remember the election is based on delegates not popular vote. I thought Democrats would have learned that after 2000 when Gore won the popular vote - but lost the election. There is no reason to think that Wbama would do much better with Hispanics, if only because HIllary's appeal to Hispanics is one also of fame and the Clinton name. So the Hillary wins Nevada and SC
SC she lost overwhemingly dlelgates and popular vote then had her husband pull the race card.
All candidates agreed to pull their names off the Michigan ballot but Hillary didn't. Still she only get in the 50's% when she is the only name on the ballot.and wins in Michigan (doesn't count) and Florida (again, no count)
All candidates including Clinton agreed not to campaign in Florida.
Yep, that was that week's story, until it proved not to work.going into Super Tuesday. The story then is of the inevitable Clinton train having weathered the Iowa surprise, and then coming back strong.
By the way she also LOST TEXAS 99-95 but claimed that as part of her big COMEBACK. And of course the media bought into it.
"Another white guy" HA HA HA. If Obama were "Another black guy" he would be losing too. And if a white guy came along who inspired people like Obama, fought a clean election in the face of the Clinton sleeze machine, he too would be successful.Even if we assume Wbama would dominate the caucauses like Obama has, you would still have Hillary winning California, NY, and all those states she won, and if she lost a few southern states, the margins would have been far smaller in her defeats, so that in delegates by the end of February 5 she would have been far ahead.
You and Kid kid yourselves if you think that the fact that Obama's campaign is historic does not add significantly to his appeal. If he were just another white guy, Hillary and the Clinton machine could have also already gone nuclear on his ass, and started chanting about how you had one historic candidate (first viable woman) vs. just another white guy, not matter how pretty he spoke.
Clinton has nationwide DISSAPPROVAL ratings of 49%. If you are a democrat you better hope she loses the nomination because the nomination is the only nationwide election she has a chance of winning.
So the new stry is Hillary lost because Obama's black. What a ****ing lame excuse.

I thought I heard this morning that Ferraro resigned from her position on Hillary's campaign team. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple
