  • Zkribbler's Journey of Death!

To update you folks who haven't been reading my PM's:

My back went out twice last week. Last Friday, my chiro recommended lots of stuff, including getting away from my desk for a few days (hunching over to fill out forms has been triggering these problems lately). I checked with my supervisor and she told me I have a few more vacation days stored up than I knew about. So, I am free for a few days.

I decided to drop in on Lancer & Dolores and see how the retirement house is coming.

I remember what Lancer told me about avoiding Manila, except when flying in on Philippine Airlines, because on any airline other than PAL, you have to change terminals, which is horrendous in Manila. So, I booked through Manila on PAL.

I PMed my flight schedule to Lancer, who has replied back that I should NOT go through Manila. Well, my ticket's non-refundable, so that's the way I'm heading.

I currently await his prediction of what's going to happen to me once I land in Manila. I do have a half hour lay over, so I should be able to handle anything that's thrown at me. Right??

Travelling is good for a bad back?

      Actually it is.

When my back problems first started kicking up a few years back, I aborted my planned trip to Italy because I was afraid what plane travel would do to it. Later though, I had to fly up to Sacramento to testify on a bill going through the Legislature. I approach the flight with some concern.

The flight actually helped. The lumbar support in plane seats is great! And the engine viabrations act as a giant massager. So it's wonderful!

I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

Another good thing is a to be in water. A swimming pool.

Half an hour is not much. You better pray your first plane don't get late.

                  Journey of Death.

After reading this topic I suspected, Zkribbler had visited the Capuchin catacombs of Palermo

Okay, maybe the tread title is a liiiiiiiiiiiittle exaggerated, a mite, just a tad.

It turns out Lancer wanted to suggest other routes, either L.A. to Cebu and then by Supercat fastboat to Tagbalan or else from L.A. to Manila to Tagbalaran.

But L.A. doesn't have a direct flight to Cebu, at least not on Philippine Airlines. And the flight from Manila to Tagbalan doesn't leave until late afternoon, so I'd have to spend all day in the Manila Airport.

So for my money, I have the best route: L.A. to Manila to Cebu and then via Supercat fastboat to Tagbalarn. I leave after work on Monday, fly all night, cross the International Date line, bounce in Manila and then get to Cebu by 9:00 in the morning (IIRC) on Wednesday. Then a relative of Dolores will take me from the airport to the dock, where I can catch the Supercat. I'll be in Tagbalaran by mid-to-late morning.

Maybe I can take Lance and Dolores to lunch.

It wouldn't be the first time people I was on the way to visit left town.
