So, there was a Rio Group meeting

Correa (president of Ecuador) said : The government of Colombia bombarded and assaulted my country

Uribe said : We did not tell Correa of the attack because we feared the attack would fail had we done that, and that there was no risk of killing ecuatorians, because it was all jungle and only the terrorists were there.
He also said the bombs were thrown from Colombian air space (not ecuatorian), and that FARC answered with fire from ecuatorian territory (thats not something sure, in most places they say the terrorists were killed while they were sleeping)

He admited what he did (violating ecuatorian territory) is not the ideal thing, and that bilateral treaties should be respected


(after Correa´s bathroom break) Correa said it is Colombia´s responsability to fight terrorism, not the other countries. And that Ecuador is the victim, not the aggressor, the aggressor is Colombia.

They continued discussing, It all got very heated, finally Correa said to Uribe something like : I admire your cold blood for taking that kind of decisions, but I hope you never again take a decision like that one.

At the end Uribe agreed on signing an apology to Ecuador, and on never again violating the sovereignty of other countries. He shook hands with Correa and Chavez

Is this sense of latinamerican fraternity widely shared? I didn't realize the resolution of situations in exclusively latinamerican fora was preferred to all solutions that would involve non latinamerican countries. Does this sense of affinity extend to non spanish speaking countries of latin America such as Brazil?

What a bunch of flipfloppers, first they're all like "WTF you commie/imperialist/whatever SOB I destroy your silly army" some days later it's just "OK, let's just be friends instead".
