      Where is Ozzy?
Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.
The simple suggestion of a true change scandalizes and terrifies modern man. -Nicolás Gómez Dávila

Umm... vibrating cell phone does the same without any "special" ringtones.

          vibrating makes noise as well.
I've been in meetings where I painfully experienced that a vibrating cellphone in ones pocket makes noise.

Maybe mine is the strong silent type.
(It really doesn't make noise unless placed on a hard surface.)

it's a sad reflection on our society when businesses have to resort to this kind of thing.

Teenagers hanging around outside of beer stores trying to get someone to buy them beer is worse.
I drank beer. I like beer. I still like beer. ... Do you like beer Senator?

It is an annoyance to teenagers and anyone younger.

So, even if you like the idea of sonic warfare vs. loitering teenagers, there is a flaw. A big one.

I think the warning in the faq suggest using headphones to hear them may damage your hearing.

On second examination I guess I *can* hear all of the sounds through my speakers but there appears to be such a dramatic drop in apparent volume and annoyance for 21 khz and 22 khz that they almost seems silent by comparison. I imagine I could easily miss either sound if I weren't actively listening for them. Certainly I missed them the first time I "took the test". More importantly those two seemingly subtle and quiet noises would fail to repell me from an area. On the other hand I imagine they might give me a headache after a while the way some old CRTs would even though I wasn't always aware of the sounds the crts were making until I turned them on or off.

not a single person i know uses the mosquito, even though we discussed it in class like 2 years ago. we just keep our phones on silent and text all day. we don't need any notification.
