If you guess that I have manual gear, you are right
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Incorrect. It doesn't use fuel, the momentum of the car does that. Hence you don't use fuel idling, and it is more economical than braking (or braking alone).

AC can increase fuel consumption by around 10% though.

In the old days, yes. Modern AC is much more efficient.

Honestly, I can't see any reason that you have to drive more than we do.

              1. Density of population: if things are more spread out, more driving is necessary.
              2. Pattern of land use: if residential is segregated from commercial, more driving is necessary.

              Corollaries:
              - Bigger parking lots cause more driving.
              - Bigger back yards cause more driving.

              3. Infrastructure: If there's no rail or bus roadway and equipment, more driving is necessary.

How many Americans here use their gears as brakes?
                Same question for Europeans.

I would expect a bit of a differential due to the auto vs manual divide.
I used to use my gears for brakes but then someone told me that it costs more in the long run in care maintainance, so I stopped. I still do while mountain driving though.

My wife and I are pretty luck in that we both work at the same place and don't have conflicting schedules. If that ever changes, the park & ride lot is about 2 miles from out house.

What makes us different in this regard?

StatsCan data reported this morning shows fewer people are taking the TTC today than 5 years ago.

The TTC is a bit of a joke though when compared to any other transport system.

Except every other one in Canada, and almost every one in the US. Now that's really sad.

Admittedly, I've been spoiled by the ubiquitous nature of the London transport network.

Wouldn't surprise me, it does drain a bit of power so will definitely have an effect. Although not as much drag as having windows open to try and cool down the interior of the car, so despite the negative, it is better than the alternative and works better at cooling the car down too
