Already ahead of you. I walk down to the Gold Line and take it into work. A monthly pass costs $62/month. My discount parking in downtown L.A. used to cost me $112/month.

By the way: $4.00+ gas is already being charged in a few places around here.

I'd ride my bike more, but this is very anti-biker city

Come to think of it - why the heck do you guys whine so much ? Here we pay $2 per liter and we still survive.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

I'm not too sure about other country's lifestyle, but I'd guess Americans drive more.

Why shouldn't we whine? We conquered an oil rich nation. We should expect prices to be below a dollar.

Coasting downhill is very dangerous. It makes it a lot more likely you will go out of control. Doing it on any hill where it would benefit you, would put you at significant risk (it's not going to help on a short hill anyhow, and long hills are where the danger lies).

Well, if the price rise, you may learn to drive less

Honestly, I can't see any reason that you have to drive more than we do.

Rolling down your windows creates drag inside the car.

Turning off the engine makes much, if not most, inoperable, and is certainly ill-advised.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

Also, drive your pick up with the tail gate UP. When it's down, air drag is created in the bed, acting like an anchor.

I'd imagine evernything is more spread out in America which means you must drive more.

It's already around $3.30-$3.40 in California.

It's not unusual for someone here to travel 50-60 miles to work. To go that far in Europe, you need a passport.

Going down hill? Turn off your engine and coast.

This sounds like a terrible idea.

Taking it out of gear would accomplish much of the same without losing the power steering and power breaks.

Yeah, there are a difference but not one that should be significant. I guess that most traffic is pretty local (up to 100 km) in most of US just as it is here.
