Perhaps, and I'll concede both are good songs to demonstrate vocal talent. I'm just putting forth the "yawn" factor. Something different avoids that.

Surely as a forum we could come up with a few somewhat known, catchy, good vocals required songs...

I'm with Wezil on this, but if you have to choose between these two, go with Amazing Grace. "Rainbow" is a song for a much softer voice than yours, while "Grace" is intended to take advantage of a powerful voice, like yours.

I think you might be better off doing something from Aretha Franklin... I'm not a vocal specialist but you have a very powerful voice, and pretty much all of her stuff is made for that kind of voice.

Also, have you considered something from a musical? There are a lot of musicals that are familiar enough that you would hopefully not feel nervous singing them, but are unique enough that you wouldn't fade into the crowd. Something like Les Miserables, or My Fair Lady perhaps?

Okay I listened to the clips and that will keep you from the gag reel.

The first song is right out. No good.

The second was much better for your type of voice but I did wander while listening to it. I'm sorry, but the song has been done to death.

I agree with Snoopy, you a have more powerful voice that requires something more soulful and up tempo. I'd look to Motown for possible material.
