Hello, Rah - very sloppy post for you! First, Obama has admitted that the land deal was poor judgement. It is the same kind of problem any kind of closed social system has (called an "oligarchy" if they are in power and use it to maintain it). He knows the guy, they live in the same area and have worked together via the Chicago Democratic machine, and the guy does him a favor. Known as access FYI, Obama was definitely not my preferred choice of candidate, but he also is not on my "I will never vote for him" list either.
The search engine that helps you find exactly what you're looking for. Find the most relevant information, video, images, and answers from all across the Web.
Yes he did admit it was poor judgement. (AFTER it was brought to light and he is good at damage control) It makes you wonder about other things that have not been exposed. But with the scrutiny that he knows he will be under I'm sure it will be less than most policiticians in Chicago. He did admit that they where friends and then spent the next month distancing himself from him. (yeah, a good loyal friend)
Like I said, I don't think he's a typical corrupt Chicago politician, but when one of the cornerstones of your campaign is that you're New, FRESH, and not part of the status quo, now I do have a problem because he's not.
And yes, if there was a cause liberal enough he actually talked to republicans a few times but look at his overall record. How many times did he vote "PRESENT" to avoid controversy? A lot.
I do agree with you, he's not on my "would never vote for list" like Hilary. He is however, way too liberal for my tastes.
Again my only complaint is his "I'm not part of the system" message. He's milking it for all it's worth and it's just not true. You don't get to where he is today without the backing of the local party. When the Daley family is supporting you, you know he's connected. As much as I'd like to believe he is something different and fresh, he's not. But, boy does he have some charisma.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple
RIP Tony Bogey & Baron O

When bad teachers get good students the good students suffer.
I've experienced that too -- Grade 13 Calc, Management 101, Linear Programming -- but how do you quantify badness in a systematic way? Polling all students has obvious problems, as does polling only students on the honour roll. I don't think merit pay solves anything.
My fiancee has taught at a bad school in a poor neighbourhood -- the kids and the staff hated her -- and she now teaches at a gifted school in a rich neighbourhood -- the kids and the staff love her. You can't quantify teacher merit in a way that would appraise her consistently.
