I'm ask skeptical of a politician promising change as anyone, but I still think he's the best candidate available.

My ideal candidate would be different. My ideal candidate probably: a) wouldn't run; b) wouldn't stand a snowball's chance in hell; c) if, by some miracle (hah!) he/she won, would be obstructed at every turn.

Answer this question. Did the unthinking, adulation cult of Reagan bother you just as what you claim to be the unthinking, adulation cult of Obama does now?

Obama, if elected, will be another Carter most likely. Intelligent, but ineffectual. If not elected, he'll be another McGovern: his anti-war talk further weakening the Democrats and harming their future presidential bids by inferring that they are weak on national security.

He has no legs, just talk, imo.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love. They had 500 years of democracy and peace. And what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

As DD's linked editorial (and I've always respected Bill Kristol, even if I've disagreed with his positions on some occasions) states:

Obama likes to say, “we are the change that we seek” and “we are the ones we’ve been waiting for.” Obama’s rhetorical skill makes his candidacy appear almost collective rather than individual. That’s a democratic courtesy on his part, and one flattering to his followers. But the effectual truth of what Obama is saying is that he is the one we’ve been waiting for.
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
                - John 13:34-35 (NRSV)

So far it's been a good strategy. He doesn't have much of record so you have to give something for people to hook on to. Hilary is most annoyed, and that's only because it's working. HE portrays that he's new, fresh and free from the normal policiticans taint.

The only problem I have is that people are believing this. He came from Chicago and is tainted as most Chicago policitican. Heck is neighbor/friend is currently up on federal charges for influence peddling (a common sport in CHICAGO). This neighbor made it possible for the lot to be bought cheaply. Nothing illegal in that but quite suspicious. I wouldn't have a problem with this but he makes such a point out of being so pure. And what has he accomplished? It would be a thin book. But most importantly he has always played partisian politics. I have not once seen him reach across the aisle to get something done. He may be preaching change, change, change, but he has and I predict he will do the same ole partisian crap. He will be able to change some of the obvious currently REP initiatives, but to expect more than that is wishful thinking. I'll agree that that's probably enough for a lot of votes, but his new religion is tainted. But damn, he is charismatic.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

You could rate the students based on the amount of improvement achieved relative to a statistically equivalent cohort. If a teacher is teaching honor students use an honor student cohort as the measuring stick. If a teacher is teaching sweathogs use a cohort composed of sweathogs for comparison.

One could point out that robes of a different sort have been a traditional dress in some parts of Arkansas.

So if Johny was an A student in 6th grade, but in 7th grade he turns into a little hoodlum who ditches school everyday the teacher should be held accountable for that?

Also, schools already teach for the test. If you want base teachers pay on the tests they will teach nothing but the test probably. That's not so bad for math maybe, but might not be so good for other subjects. History, in particular is especially boring taught like that.
