On the TV shows if you ask a cop if he is a cop they have to tell you. POLICE MISCONDUCT!!!

          Typical Chris Hansonish scenario-online chat

This is surreal. I had never heard the name Chris Hanson before. But the previous article I just read online, a minute ago, mentioned him:

A "close the door" from the boss is second only to Chris Hansen saying "why don't you have a seat over there" on the things-that-indicate-the-conversation-won't-go-your-way list.

The very next thing I do is open this thread, and here it's again. Need my tinfoil hat.

A guy I used to work with, a defense attorney (yes, you read that correctly), was picked up at a gas station where he was going to meet a 15 yr old girl. Of course the girl was actually a cop. Typical Chris Hansonish scenario-online chat, emailing of **** photos to the "girl". agreement to meet. "Are U a cop" "no ru?" typical bull****.

Charged with attempted sexual misconduct with minor-B felony (6-20yrs)
            2 C felonies of solicitation (2-8)
            1 D felony (penis email) (.5-3)
2 A misdemeanors-found weed and a pipe in the home when recovering his pc (no child porn recovered yet, but its probably inevitable)
Am I reading this correctly? He is facing at least 6 years of prison if found guilty of attempting to have sex with a 15 year old? Wow. You get that much for killing someone here.

No, the way I read the list, the max is in the 30s.

Edit: I misunderstood the post. My bad.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

yup, the minimum he's facing is 6 years. The max is dependent on how the judge runs the charges, based on the charges as laid out, which I haven't personally seen. Max could be anywhere above 20.

6 years really isn't 6 years, due to mandatory credit time, its really 3.

Apparently the guy confessed everything to the cops. Even attorneys don't follow their own advice. :shakeshead:

                  Toast.

Before I was thinking he would get maybe 180 in jail and then home detention/probation for 4-5 years and the sex offender registry for 10, and disbarrment of course, but with that confession...ooooh.

The only thing I have issue with, is that a 15 year old girl can be entirely sexually mature and even as emotionally mature as a 25 year old girl - perhaps more a reflection on the immaturity of the latter.

The simple FACT of the matter is, that in neolithic through colonial times, guys started banging girls when they were 14 years old or even younger.

They started early with having kids, fact was people couldn't be expected to live beyond 20-25, so they had to start early.
Also fact was, the first baby was probably going to DIE, just because the girl was inexperienced, may as well get that out of the way quickly! Rough times, those.

The point is, natural selection has favored having sex with 14 year olds, men can find sexually mature teenage girls extremely attractive and it's difficult to say what's wrong with that - without saying that biology itself is innately wrong.

Lets run with that. Lets say that biological instinct is wrong.

Well, how about stop using young and beautiful women in advertising! That just pushes those same buttons in men and reinforces those kind of thought patterns.

Another thing, often in TV shows 14-15 year old girls will be played by young-looking 18-25 year old women. Which simply adds to the confusion.

How about women stop trying to look like teenage girls, if being sexually attracted to teenage girls is so wrong.

There's a difference between doing things which are biologically natural, and perverse. Like it or not, it's biologically natural for men to want to have sex with 15 year old girls and it's also difficult to say what is morally perverse about that. There are obviously cases where it's definitely wrong but most of those same obvious cases, would also be definitely wrong with a 20 year old woman. These are things like rape (always legally wrong) and excessively ****ing with her head (not legally wrong in the case of 20 year olds).

To put it crudely, if her eyes and legs are wide open, it's very hard to say why the man is totally wrong, how can you say that with any conviction? There is a WORLD of difference between that, and meeting with 10 year old girls under false pretenses with the intention to have sex with them.

The perversity runs much deeper here than the natural biological instincts of men and girls.

This case is noteworthy, because the attorney should know better, but I can't see where the "Yuck" is, that's just due to the words involved, nothing more.

Sorry to hear about your ex-coworkers poor decisions, asleepathewheel. Still, if he actually did it then I hope he gets the full sentence he deserves.

I know that in Canada it would still be completely legal to actually have sex with a 15 year old (there is planned legislation to move the age from 14 to 16). However, I believe (don't know exactly) that you CAN get charged in relation to pics exchanged etc etc . So have sex . . . no law broken-- Take a nude picture of the girl and you are a child pornographer
You don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo
