    Hmmm. I wonder if it is the not "avoiding confrontation" bit. Then again, as a Union representative (unpaid - thankless position) management was always very tentative around me.           Pericles.

          Pericles was a brilliant and completely capable leader who lead Athens during her Golden Age. Even though he held absolute power, he was not a tyrant. Encouraging democracy, while building up Athens' infrastructure, Pericles was a patriot and an unselfish ruler.
