It seems as though "Yeah" is the British version of "Eh". To my knowledge, "Eh" predates "Yeah" in use.

Doesn't everybody use "eh" in the same manner as "huh"? I thought the Canadian use of eh was distinguished only by using it in other contexts.
My neighbor might say "So your backyard rink is finished eh?" and it doesn't sound Canadian at all to my ears.
