I'm consitently stupid- Japher I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned
No. It's not joke. It's no coincidence that you work for Big Oil, and we aren't talking about just a worker. You are a part of the planning of the organization aren't you?
Two points
1. You didn't just state you would label ME. In Alberta a few hundred thousand people work in and around the oil industry.
2. I am simply a worker bee that performs a legal function. I am one of 4 lawyers that reports to the head lawyer for our division. I am the most experienced of the 4 and do exercise management functions over some team projects but I doubt if any more than 1 or 2 vice-presidents even know my name.
So I don't know where you got the over-inflated idea as to my role. Do you even understand the role of lawyers in most companies?

Never cared about that-- I am generally much too wordy and I posted in OT as much or more when the posts didn't 'count"
Short posts with Kid are sometimes necessary to have any hope of a response to the main question instead of a side trip into irrelevancies. WE have already had such a side-trip because of my ill advised use of the word 'utopian'. I find the longer the post, the more likely kidicious is to seize on some minor side issue. I find shorter ones get a better response to the main question you are trying to pose.
And for communists I have many many questions since I have generally found the beliefs I hear to be impractical.

I am glad you added the smilie -- Although litigation management is often a role, it is a very small part for most counsel-- Avoiding litigation is a bigger role ( since I don't want to pay those big lawyers bills for a litigator either )
MY biggest role currently is actually managing legal review of our acquisition and diverstitures. There are dozens of contracts drafters in our division and every agreement needs to be approved. With this role we have taken on the function of providing education and training to these other groups and I am often in the role of teacher (which I quite enjoy)

How does it compare to the feeling you get from crushing your opponent in your chosen field of comabt (the courtroom or other legal arena) and hearing the lamentations of thier women?

The local sports radio play an Aaaahnold clip that contains those very words-- I never was sure which movie it was from but I always suspected it was a Conan one
OH and court victories can be a rush but I never do the courtroom talking myself. I have neither the time nor the inclination.
I go to the ice rink or the ski hill to get my adrenaline fix

Thats the one-- They play it a few times over when discussing a big win by a Calgary sports team
The local sports radio loves to play weird little audio clips-- They have one of female tennis players grunting that can be hilarious depending on what words they mix it with--

All you do is bring up irrelevancies.
