In step 5 you're taking the SQUARE of the square root, so IT DOESN'T MATTER if it is the positive or negative root (because the square must be postive).Originally posted by DanQ

The end result is correct, but in order for the steps in the argument to be completely accurate, Step 4 should acknowledge the possibility of both "+/-" roots.
So, although the end result is correct, my objection to an incomplete argument is valid.So your objection is INVALID
