    2. Literature. a. a technique of indicating, as through character or plot development, an intention or attitude opposite to that which is actually or ostensibly stated.

You guys got it all wrong. Irony is of anything resembling, relating to, or tasting much like iron.

ironic: happening in the opposite way to what is expected, and typically causing wry amusement because of this.

I think it's ironic that W., the actual biggest threat to word peace, would call anyone else a threat to world peace, and that he doesn't realize that the world is currently quite a distance from what could reasonably be called "peace"

Thats not irony. Thats somehthing happening in the opposite way than expected, typically causing wry amuesment.

And you fail on both acounts because "W" is only the biggest threat to world peace if you a dillusional.

Ugh...A joke you have to explain and all that...The joke in my original post requires that you imagine that W. is making the Iran statement with ironic intent, implying that he realizes that he's the bigger warmonger and/or that he recognizes that there is no "world peace". These things are beyond him both intellectually and with respect to self-awareness.

As to the definition of ironic, you can take it up with the Oxford English Dictionary, I give up on your humorless arse.

And please, don't ever call me "a dillusional", I can't find that in the dictionary.
