  • After a prolonged break from activity...

The link provided for Mr. Terkel does not work for me. This one does.

Studs Terkel — master chronicler of American life in the 20th century, veteran radical and vibrant soul of the midwestern capital of Chicago — has died, aged 96. To register him as "writer and broadcaster" would be like calling Louis Armstrong a "trumpeter" or the Empire State Building an "office block". Strictly and sparsely speaking, it is true.

He is best known to Americans as the voice that asked the questions on the Studs Terkel Show which ran for 45 years, syndicated from the WFMT radio station of downtown Chicago. The tapes of his interviews take up rack after rack at WFMT; there are 9,000 of them, and Studs was setting about a catalogue when he fell ill.

I think you misunderstood the objective. I should have been clearer.

              • Amy Winehouse is making news (again).

Amy Winehouse Is Hospitalized, Part 39

                by Ryan Porter
The one with the bender-induced seizure.

Amy Winehouse was hauled off to her home-away-from-home--the hospital--on Monday night after a weekend long bender ended with a seizure. Sounds like a fun party.

According to the Sun of London, she got into a Jerry Springer-style blow-out with her husband Blake Fielder-Civil over the phone. "She was beside herself after the call," a friend told the Sun. "And she just totally lost it." And when Amy Winehouse totally loses it, there does need to be an ambulance involved.

The News of the World reported on Sunday that Amy and Blake are over, with Blake now lovin' up German model Sophie Schandorff, known for her role on that well-respected factory of high-fashion, Denmark's Next Top Model. She did not win, or come close to winning.

Blake was in court on Monday to appeal his 27 month jail sentence. He lost, with the judge stressing he take his alrenative sentence--rehab--seriously. Judge Christopher Pitchford said that it was only if "these attempts are successful that he has a worthwhile future." Yup, what he said.

As Blake left court, he told reporters he was "in love" with Amy. So obviously no one knows what's going on with their marriage. But what everyone does know is that Amy is being permitted to do increasingly deadly doses of illegal drugs and England's cool with it. Are the police not anxious for a Back to Black follow-up? Cuzzzz she's not gonna write it if she's dead.

Unlike you Sloww, I'm not so retarded that I have to remind myself I'm playing in a dead pool everytime I visit this thread.
