Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.
The simple suggestion of a true change scandalizes and terrifies modern man. -Nicolás Gómez Dávila

He would have taken over all of northern Germany, which, I might add, was rather more substantial back in those HRE days.
then why didn't the warlords succeeding him do this?
because they couldn't(?). why this would chance if the king was alive?

Sweden did take over a portion of northern Germany including Pomerania and parts of Silesia and Prussia. They occupied this territory for around two hundred years, from the 30 Years War all the way to the Napoleonic Wars.
If Gustav Adolf had lived, Sweden could have taken over much more of Germany and northern Europe under his leadership. The Germans didn't call him "der Löwe von Mitternacht" for nothing.
Also, the succeeding warlords you mentioned lacked his leadership and unifying power, and Gustav Adolf's daughter Christina was only six when she succeeded him.
