A beautiful red cashmere scarf and one of those kits where you use a potato to power a clock. I'm thinking of taking it apart and trying to build my own electrophoresis kit.
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.
        -Richard Dawkins

My mother gave me a breadmaker.

My sister gave me soap ( )

My grandmother gave me chocolate, the same as she's done since I've 5 years old. This includes chocolate "gold" coins (in gold foil), this year I notice they are euro coins which is cool, unfortunately Sweden doesn't look phallic, which is disappointing. Also the bag of coins is labeled as pirate treasure, and why would pirates have a chest full of euro coins? I don't think it was fully thought through. Anyway I'm not going to eat the chocolate, at the moment I have it on the desk next to my keyboard to remind me that desire is my *****, not vice-verca.

The soap smells really yummy, I almost want to eat it, it just smells that good! It's organic hippy soap, actually quite a thoughtful gift if you don't get hung up on the whole "are you suggesting I don't bathe" thing. My sister is either oblivious to such connotations or is cool enough to give such a gift in spite of that .

The males in my family understand that atheist/buddhist christmas means not giving me presents .

Galnemer gave me a couple gifts early, including Rock Band (**** yeah!) and a Flying Spaghetti Monster shirt.

The swag I pulled in today includes Mario Galaxy, a Flying Spaghetti Monster emblem for my car, a Michigan sweatshirt, a few gift cards, I Am America (And So Can You!), a couple U2 and The Who CDs, and Red Wings tickets with my dad.

Since my family doesn't celebrate Christmas, I exchanged gifts with my friends over the past two weeks or so, where I got:

                    Brookstone N.A.P. Moccasins
Aveda Men's Soap (yeah, I got fancy soap too)
                    A Christmas Ornament
                    A cookbook
                    A couple fiction/non-fiction books
A bottle of champaign and flute glasses
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.â€

Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

                          What about you guys?
from mom: $50 Borders gift card

from closest friend: a sentimental friendship book, mini-stuffing with sweets

from closest friend's dad: $15 Blockbuster gift card

from platonic friend I live with: paper shredder

I bought myself an iPod Nano in late October for my own LATE Christmas present.

From my wife: Some Indian music, including a whole CD of Tamil Filmi music played on saxophone (believe it or not, this is a good gift).

From my daughter: League of Extraordinary Gemtlemen, Vol. 1 (have always wanted to read it, but can't ever justify buying graphic novels for myself)

From my sister: A nice cookbook that, unfortunately, I already have; it will be exchanged (at Amazon.com) for some jazz

From my mother-in-law: An Amazon.com gift card

And the very best gift of all...

From the Elite Private College my daughter was accepted to, early admission, two weeks ago: A huge horking scholarship (news of which arrived by e-mail, honest-to-God, on Christmas morning)

And everyone agreed it was the best Christmas ever!
