  • "Who's your favorite author?"

“Who is your favorite author?” Aleya Deatsch, 7, of West Des Moines asked Mr. Huckabee in one of those posing-like-a-shopping-mall-Santa moments.

Mr. Huckabee paused, then said his favorite author was Dr. Seuss.

In an interview afterward with the news media, Aleya said she was somewhat surprised. She thought the candidate would be reading at a higher level.

“My favorite author is C. S. Lewis,” she said.
    From the NY Times
Today, you are the waves of the Pacific, pushing ever eastward. You are the sequoias rising from the Sierra Nevada, defiant and enduring.

C.S. Lewis, the drugee's author. The family probably sits around munching on mushrooms, getting small.

My favourite author changes with time. For quite a while now, it's been Arthur C. Clarke.

I have to wonder, why did some stealthy moderator delete Lancer's post after my last one, and let, say, Verto's right before it remain? It's been a long time since I've spotted deletion of individual posts, especially of good-natured, non-offending ones like that one by Lancer.

I'm sure there's an explanation for this strange and sporadic intervention, I'm just not able to think of a single one that's even remotely satisfactory.
