The reactions to this video have been absurd. Thousands of people have died and many more have been maimed in the Iraq war but everybody gets so teary eyed over a stray puppy, that's what I find hilarious. People are more outraged at this than Abu Ghraib.

Yes, as a newspaper reporter we knew that if you wanted to get people really mad, put a story of pet abuse on your front page.

Because readers don't care about crime where people get stabbed or shot or murdered. It's the pets that count.

Think of it this way: we've all known people who were total jerkoffs. Part of us can argue that maybe, just maybe, the victim deserved it, no matter how horrific the violence. But nobody's ever known an evil puppy. At least, I haven't.

You could argue the same thing with cows but most people in this country wouldn't give a second thought to eating beef. If someone were to throw a Norwegian Roof Rat over a cliff, no one could give two ****s. It's because kittens and puppies are considered so cute that people are offended.

I guarantee you there would be a segment of the population that would cheer such a scenario or simply not care. You would see youtube comments saying the head belonged to an insurgent or terrorist.
