            No, actually, he was quiet.

Compared with women who actively lie to men about their fertility status to get pregnant, or who are cheating she-dogs - like this one - this is nothing.

              What's a "fertility status"?

I actually somewhat agree with aneeshm!!

What I mean by this is while the man in the story (assuming everything in the story is true) did not act in what I consider the most proper manner, whatever he did was LESS reprehensible than what the woman did, by quite a margin.

He was basically cheated and lied too and in response, hid the fact that he knew what was going on.
This is much less worse than the person doing the lying and cheating in the first place.

Putting it another way: is it wrong to give someone enough rope to hang themselves with?

That's not the point, though. Yes, she's a reprehensible, cheating little *****, and ultimately did worse - but if someone starts a relationship without telling their partner that they've had a vasectomy, well, there seems to be something wrong somewhere. If he had been open and honest in the first place, she wouldn't have been able to lie herself.

They probably deserved each other IMO.

Actually I think the whole story is fiction - but it's still an interesting hypothetical.

The bit about her getting pregnant with a guy "from a band" is what kills the credibility.

If he started the relationship giving her the impression he'd give her babies then yes, it's dishonest... how many of your ladyfriends have you announced your fertility status to?

He did not, in fact, give her any such impression.

Well, the default position is 'active', so it only really needs mentioning somewhere along the line if there's been a vasectomy. A friend once had the snip, and he would use it to try and increase the chances of getting laid, on grounds of less risk. Didn't really help him though - drunken Aussies were his only chance.

I consider him a douche for the elaborate snare-and-burn he set up for the girl. I'm sure it's tempting to mess with somebody who cheats on you and then has the gall to try and guilt-trip you into financing her shame, but toying with her in that way is grotesque. He's getting his rocks off watching her cry, for pete's sake. The gentlemanly thing to do would be to immediately ask, "are you sure it's mine," just to give her the chance to be honest, then tell her you're sterile and to get her cheating ass out of the house. No sick, drawn-out cat-and-mouse games.
